DONATE A GATE
  •  WHY? ----- Many people in the Conwy/Llandudno area are remembered by their loved ones who have provided a bench with the name of a relative who"loved " the area on it. So many in fact, that bench space is now becoming an issue in some places. A radical solution could be to commemorate a loved one, a Golden Wedding , or other occasion, by providing a gate.
  • WHERE?  Most Ramblers will know of some awkward stile, collapsed gate, or bit of path which should have a gate, but doesn't.
  • The final say of where would be down to the council or other body responsible for the path  where the gate would go.
  • HOW  ?. Memorials are usualy funded by friends, family or colleagues, but certainly in Victorian Times, things like drinking fountains in public parks were often funded by public subscription.

The Isle of Wight have apparently got over 170 gates erected on the above basis. What a first it would be for our area if we could get a gate funded and erected by Conwy Valley Ramblers, and thus"open the gate" to other groups and organisations doing likewise?
