A Thank You to our path group
Ron Williams has sent me this link from your flickr gallery showing the repair work the Conwy Valley Ramblers have undertaken.
We had a our Pilgrimage in June this year and we did encounter a problem in the area with that footpath as it was in a state of disrepair and overgrown and we had to deviate via a nearby field. It looks like from the gallery that you have in fact undertaken a great deal of work in repairing this path and we are very grateful  for the effort made by the group.
Can I thank you and your members for the work they done which has made a substantial improvement to this part of the NWPW.

Hon. Secretary
On behalf of the North Wales Pilgrim’s Way Committee NWPW.

Near Eglwysbach,a slippery bank at SH 8124 7016 has had steps installed and the path cleared. This work was carried out by the Conwy Valley Ramblers Footpath Group with material supplied by ERF
Near Glan Conwy,at SH 862 741 A wobbly stile with no footplate and wire netting between support posts has been repaired. A stile has been installed at SH 861 738  At SH 857 738  A gate fastened with heavy-duty wire which cannot be loosened by hand has been made good and the footpath has been cleared at SH 853 736  .

Footpath 58, which is a PROW path where both entrances/exits are on Rhos Goch Road, and joins footpath 57 which goes to Sarn Y Mynach is to remain in its present condition. ERF are unable to take any further action with this complaint as the farmer is entitled to amalgamate his fields and allow to let his horses graze freely where there is a public footpath.
Many thanks to ERF for dealing with these problems.

As a result of local government restructuring, Conwy Council will no longer have a Rights of Way section from April, all future complaints will be the responsibility of 7 Highway Maintenance Officers, each with responsibility for their particular area. As regards outstanding complaints, ROW 38, a stile with a wasps nest has been repaired. Unfortunately there has been no progress on the other complaints as there has been no Rights Of Way Officer in the southern part of the County since restructuring began.

Waen-oer farm gate, near Llanddoged The gate is now possible to open as the chain is

held on by a nail of which the chain can be lifted off. However it is not easy to do as you need to raise the gate in order to release the chain from the nail. The current tenant farmer will be contacted and be asked to add a link to the chain length, which would free it up.

The stile near Brynfranigl Isaf has been replaced and the stiles at 891/762 are currently being addressed; one stile has been installed.

The footbridge at 909 756 has been checked and was found to be structurally sound. Some older bridges were designed to have a handrail on one side only. However a further handrail will be added, and that work has been added to the schedule of works.

The problems at Cefn Isaf and Cefn Fran (Betws yn Rhos 23 and 28) have been recorded and are outstanding, and will be addressed as soon as possible.

The broken handrails and metal railings on the footbridge on Footpath Caerhun 07/75 at Tal y bont have been inspected and will be sorted as a matter of urgency.

Bro Garmon Footpath has been inspected and the stile at the rear of Rhyd-techog will be replaced.

Thanks to the Conwy Borough Council Highways and Footpath Services Department for all of the above.
